Shield Security for WordPress Reviews

So normally you see a difference in support depending if you are a paid or free member - no difference here!

I approached Shield support regarding a possible conflict with Shield and another app. Kept getting errors inc trouble installing other apps and Database hookups kept dropping out. Within minutes they responded and a collaboration between my Host, self and Shield ensued. Shield made a number of suggestions one of them being the reset of Database entries relating to shield - may have acquired corrupt data - they even offered to look at error records to ascertain. Anyways, i followed the suggestions and boom everything was back to normal and php error records reported no errors occurring anymore. So excellent service from Shield and Shockhosting - so glad i have these two services as this would of cost me so much more time!

I started using Shield Security Pro in 2018. I have watched the company grow and the product improve over the years. New features are constantly being added. Now Shield Security is my go-to plugin for WordPress website security. I am currently using Shield on over 50 websites and feel confident that those sites are protected. What I appreciate the most about the plugin is the support behind it – support requests are responded to quickly and with satisfaction.

Good product and have used it for years. Great to see that they continue to update it, improve it. However some improvements can be questionable. The recent one where, instead of providing a security report in an email which can be read easily, we now have to click on a link, open a new tab and go to their website to read the report. With multiple sites this increases work (more clicks!) so has not been thought through from a user perspective. Disappointing, hence the 3 stars where it would have been 4.

These guys are legit. Easy enough said.

Any questions you may have, they answer. Any issues you may have, they will help fix. Their support team is fast to respond (Answered two of my tickets in less than 24hrs), and are extremely professional and polite.

They will explain in simple terms, break things down, and stay with you until you are resolved. If it can't be fixed, they will push an update.

Amazing customer service, amazing plugin with fantastic features, and over absolutely worth any amount of money you are willing to give them.

Having tried other security plugins that have not lived up to their claims and one particular that allowed one of my websites to be hacked and taken down, I discovered Shield and cannot fault it. It has been money well spent. Also the Shield team go over and above to help solve any problems encountered. Even it not directly related to their plugin their advice is excellent.

I've been using ShieldSecurity Pro on my wordpress sites for a while now. For well over a year my sites have stayed free from malware and have been sheilded from numerous attacks. ShieldSecutity Pro is IMO the strongest and most complete WordPress security solution available.

I've had various WordPress ecommerce sites over the years and always select Shield Security Pro to protect them. This company seems to take my security seriously as I've never (touch wood) had a breach or hack.

The plugin is packed with brilliant and very useful features. Support is responsive and helpful.

Have been using Shield for years now, without doubt the best security plugin we've used and we have experience with quite a few.

Support is fantastically good, no matter what channel you use.

Piece of advice for anyone considering Shield: GO PRO! You will not regret it.

I've tried MANY products, but nothing quieted down the SPAM on our site in forms and forums like Shield! We gave it the 14-day free trial, and deactivated Akismet which didn't really do the job. During the trial, we were still getting light SPAM come through, mainly in wpforo that we use for support. I reached out to the Team on Shield about it, and to my amazement, they worked on integrating WPForo with their the software. That's what I call customer service!

After comparing many security plugins, I have been using Shield together with iControlWP for 5 and a half years to look after around 50 customer sites.

The combination is amazing!

I like Shield for many reasons (the features, it constantly being improved and developed, ...).

But the main reason I've been using Shield for so long is clearly Paul Goodchild!


Every time a problem arose and I opened a support ticket, Paul answered quickly, friendly and above all very competently and honestly. When necessary (I think it happend twice so far), he delivered a plugin update within hours (!).

Over the years I have dealt with a lot of plugin manufacturers in the WordPress environment: Shield offers the best support i've seen so far.

I use the Shield plugin on every website that I build. It comes with the common actions that I take as a preparation for website building.
It is easy to use and guides you threw the actions you need to take.
I use it a few years now, and it is being improved constantly.
The support team is super responsive and professional.

They are hands on, listening to their users, and add features or make changes from the feedback they receive.

My website is visited by lots of people in the US and other countries, so I feel like I need to protect it from malware or other destructive invaders. Shield Security gives me protection, and the Support Staff are very helpful – much appreciated. I feel like I can update my website and walk away knowing that my website is safe.

Customer support for the Pro subscription is really good. Usually, same-day reply and they have always got me where I need to be. The pro plugin itself is robust and does a lot to secure, monitor and scan, and reject bots, spam, comment spam, etc.

I operate some sites. I got a massive bot attack a half year ago on all sites. They tried to get in every way. Portscan, upload, login/pass, xml-rpc, old addons, ssh etc. I worked all night to monitor and defend but attacks didn't stopped. I was very anxious. After three day of searching and trying nearly every security addon for Wordpress I found Shield Security. I am amazed how feature rich was. After I installed and configured attacks was decreased a lot than stopped on all sites after two days.
A half year left and I can sleep well. Thank you.

I've tried a handful of security plugins for WordPress over the years and Shield Security has been hands down the best one I've used so far (even compared to some of the heavy hitters that have been around awhile).

The free version comes with enough tools and settings that make it stand out from the crowd but the premium version really sets it apart.

I like that I can have one security plugin that can handle pretty much every aspect of my website security and the support team behind it is top notch. Paul and his team back their product 100% and are super responsive.

I'm currently using Shield Security (free) on around 100 sites and the premium version on a handful that need that extra touch and I couldn't be happier. Shield Security is an easy 5 star recommendation.

Great security plugin! Makes me take action about the security on our sites but at the same time saves me a lot of work on some small settings!
I love it!
Sometimes it's hard to find some specific settings but it is still amazing. IT explains every single setting and why you need it. I'm not a security specialist but i was able to secure my sites in almost no time!
And the support is also great, timely and polite!

The best security plugin. It handles everything for you and has a plethora of features that will protect your website. The team keeps coming with new ways to protect you as well such as the NotBot JS. It is so intuitive and creative. After adding the settings that I want, I just sit back and let Shield handle everything.
